The ML500 is a substantially better projector from what I'm finding. It's 70% brighter, has a built-in power supply and has better optics.

Buyer Beware. Buying something refurbished doesn't guarantee that it works. Then, when you try to get it fixed through the warantee, you can expect shipping and handling costs. That was my experience for two of my last three purchase. It won't happen to me again.

However, "factory reconditioned" products (such as these) tend to be safer bets.
