Actually, the divisiveness of it all is what I would love to change. It's a mid-winter festival. Most cultures have one. I don't care if you're trying to bribe the sun to come back or if you're glad The Son has been, it's a celebration. Let's all drop the nonsense and realize "winter is a horrible horrible time of year, even with modern technology, so let's remember to be nice to each other."

But winter is my favorite time of year...

Most of what is celebrated was derived from elements of the Teutonic and Druid midwinter celebrations - the tanenbaum, the yule log, and even Santa derives from the pagan rituals of Odin and Krampus.
The significant birth would have actually taken place in the spring, but since that holiday period was in use (Easter) the birthday was moved to the other pagan holiday period. Anything to bring in more believers.

The "T"

If it's just going to be silent it doesn't deserve to be there.

I second that.

tolerance: a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.
BOC: 4 Including the very last Woot!-off B)C. One of the lucky few.

The second s, because then it would say, "Christ Ma" which was pretty much my sister's favorite way of addressing our mother.
