I GAVE IT AWAY SOON AFTER!

We clean ours in the sink within 24 hours of use, no problems. Cleans up in a few minutes ready to put away.

Yup. Chicken, fish and chips, you name it. If it fits, it fries.

You can also fill it with water to do clambakes, low country boils, etc...

I paid $100 for mine and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Did you take the oil out of it? I throw mine in the dishwasher. The only things you have to hand clean are the heating element and anything that splashed on the case.

Unless you've stocked up, I guess you won't be able to fry Twinkies; but it sounds like an awesome buy!

I noticed SoDak was the only state without any Woots and since I'm from SoDak, I'm in for one.

Get it. Stop thinking and just click 'I want one'.

I have an older Masterbuilt fryer (before they teamed up with Butterball). I love it.

We deep fry turkeys, chicken, and more. We also use it for appetizers because it can handle more than a little FryDaddy. (Once you have this you will laugh at people who can only fry 3 mozzarella sticks at a time).

Chicken Wings are amazing in it. As are all the little snackie snacks. Cheese sticks, Jalapeno Poppers, Totino's Pizza Rolls, Fish.
Remember: There's like a big football game or something in January. You want this.

Ok, realize the are 'healthy people' here too. Fine. You can also fill it partially with water and steam veggies and fish. Or you can forget health, fill all the way with water, drop in some shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and seasoning and go for a low country boil!

Warning for those of you with kids (or sports fans) in the house: Once you deep fry the Totino's Pizza Rolls... there's no going back.

Edit: This is the regular, up to 14lb turkey. The XL can do 20lb turkeys.

BeachWoot wrote:14lbs is a very small turkey!

It's big for a chicken, but small for a turkey!

I have been frying turkeys for thirty years, the old fashion way with a fish fryer and long before turkey fryer kits were everywhere. Fourteen pounds is about the biggest you should try to fry. I have done up to sixteen pounds but you start to run into problems with the breast meat being overcooked and dark inner meat not completely cooked. Twelve pounds is a perfect size for deep frying.

Great item! Love mine. I've had it about 2 years. What's great is all of the internal pieces (that aren't electrical) can be washed in the dish washer.
I just wish mine had cost this!

I just got mine Monday and of course it pops up on Woot cheaper! In all honesty I don't care that I paid more. This is as good as they say. First I fried chicken legs. 15 fit in the basket. Then I fried whole fish, mushrooms and onion. Everything was great! The chicken legs were moist, not greasy, the mushrooms........I could've made a meal off of them. You can also steam & boil in it. I can't wait to do a boil. If I could afford it, I'd buy some to give as gifts. I highly recommend them.

I am a little confused as to which model this actually is. The dimensions do not match either of the Masterbuilt sizes. The model number on the instructions match the XL model, but like I said the dimensions do not?????

Curious for those who use this. How do you dispose of all that used oil? That's what's holding me back on this. Don't know how to get rid of the old oil.

I have this, and I have two phrases for my fellow vegetarians:

Crisp, light, vegetable tempura, for many guests, quickly.

And homemade nutmeg doughnuts. LOTS of homemade nutmeg doughnuts.

Those two things are all you really need to know.

Really, I'm not blue, I don't have a ratty beard, and I NEVER wear pink.

I offer my used oil on Freecycle. One of the several guys in the town who has a car converted to run on veggie oil always snags it.

Ok, might not be the most enviornment friendly way, but I put stopper in sink, dump oil and then add a lot of dishsoap and water, mix it up and down the drain.

There is a drain hole that has an attached valve on the bottom of the pan......all you do is screw on the spout and open the valve to drain into what ever container you're using. Easy as pie

This is the regular size not the XL but I'm not sure which one is better to get? Any opinions ?

That's incredibly horrible for the city pipes. Everyone's taxes in your town go toward your laziness.

Oh dear...No can do. We're on a private septic system so anything I put down the drain goes directly out in my back yard. I don't even put leftover saute grease in the pan down the drain!

You should NEVER pour any type of cooking oil or the fatty stuff that drains from cooked ground beef down your drains! Bad, bad, bad thing to do! Lots of communities have special collection days for things like used cooking oil, unused paint, motor oil, etc. it's not that hard to dispose of properly!

My outlaws do the same thing, minus the stopper part--they just get the water hot and pour the grease right down! How they avoid a weekly visit from RotoRooter, I have no idea.

I really like seeing all the positive comments here? I remember seeing one of these about a year and a half ago, and all the reviews said the heating element kept giving out, burning out, or worse.

Whatever the defect was, looks like they fixed it!

Now, if only I could justify the counter space being taken up...

I had the model before this one came out. Check it carefully before the warranty runs out. I found the element bracket (plastic) broken two months after mine went out of warranty and and they had already stopped selling parts for it.When I asked their customer service what I could do they said buy a new one.

Surely you realize that also clogs up YOUR pipes too? For god's sake, you can put up an ad on craigslist or freecycle and GIVE AWAY used cooking oil. People all over are grabbing that up to make their own biodiesel.

Seeing the temperature ranges, this looks like a great sous-vide substitute. Any indication of temperature variation +/-?

And just like that it is gone I just saw your post a few minutes ago and attempting to research if there was any precedent for doing sous-vide with the turkey fryer. $20 more on Amazon than it was here, but $90 still isn't bad for a sous-vide machine if it works.
