For normal home use, these are OK. Don't plan on buying these if you need 'em to do any work. Stick with DeWalt or Milwaukee for those big jobs.

Are the batteries any good?
That's really the most important question.

According to this review, and the pictures of the product on Amazon, the "driver" half of this deal can't be used with drill bits, it can only handle hex-bits.

I don't think these should be classified as a "drill" because neither is equipped with a chuck, so unless your drill bits are equipped with tiny hex shafts, you will still be "screwed" (LoL).

You can use these with regular drill bits (up to 1/4") with a $7 drill chuck that will snap right into these.

Real quick, $129.99 when sold a few months ago, so $10 cheaper now:

Cowboy Dann's comment then:

Hope this helps.

My dad had one of these from Ryobi he used almost daily for years up until it was stolen out of his truck a month or so ago. They actually make special drill bits that can be used in these. He didnt use it to drill holes very often but for hanging stuff and screwing things together an impact driver cant be beat.

Yeah, for drill bits you will need to buy the kind with a "hex shank". That's the magic phrase if you're searching for them.

They're called quick release drill bits and you will love Life once you've used them in conjunction with a screw bit. These little drills aren't made for big hands, something to be aware of. from my experience, Hitachi makes pretty good stuff for the price. Some times the direction button is reversed compared to the bigger brand stuff. Which doesn't really matter, just annoying when you're used to something else.

Also these are about a million times better than that blue set that won't go away.

I install window treatments for Lowes. I LOVE this drill. Bought my first about 3 years ago from Lowes for $129.00 for just the drill alone. It's still going strong (batteries included) and I bought 2 more since. One with a Mico saws-all/flashlight combo and this one a month ago with the 90 degree hammer drill for tight places. Its alot easier handling one of these rather than a big honking 19V Craftsman or Dewalt. Highly recommend.

I have had for two years this same series from Hitachi and am absolutely thrilled with the quality and performance.

I bought from Costco so I knew if it was bad I could return it. Got home and was shocked the batteries seemed so light, they couldn't be good right? I equated weight to performance.

Well I was wrong. Beats the crap out of any of my Makita and so far appear to be like new.

Considering I use my drill over half the time with the hex shanks may be nice to have as separate tools? and I would get an extra charger and couple more batteries.

I have all Dewalt cordless but have seen and used Hitachis and consider them to be as good

Lithium-ion batteries = good.

Hex-bit chuck = bad. Hex drill bits are typically really crappy quality and you'll have to go out and buy a set just for these units rather than using what you already have. If all you want to do is screw and unscrew things, then fine, otherwise look for drills with real chucks.
