Seems a little old, does creative zen make new players?

What are the chances that woot has the 2GB version at the same time that crapbox has the 4gb version? I am much more comfortable buying one from woot, rather than those thieves on that other site.

Bah...better deal than off MidnightBox a month ago...that one was $37.

Absolute piece of wittle schnookie-pies. I ordered the Zen V last time, and sent it back because it would not power on after the first time. Don't waste your time or money.

does this have non standard phone jack?

also, this is just 2 gigs? non expandable with sd card or anything?

Nice player. If you miss the sale, these are available as refurbs from the Creative website store, for about the same price.

Absolutely loved mine when I had it and its new owner loves it just as much. It was only replaced bc the hubby bought me a Shuffle - and I couldn't not use the gift.

Screen is great, and it's one of few players I've found that bookmarks (perfect for audiobooks). Sound quality was decent, though I immediately scrapped the earbuds that came with it. FM radio reception was pretty good.

I hated the Creative software, but fortunately, you can drag and drop the music as needed. IIRC you have to use the software for images and videos, but I didn't play around with that much.

Awesome little player for the price (I paid over 100$ for it), and it fits quite nicely in the hand, very sleek and curvy.

Mine came with a mini to mini cable - I think the idea is that you can plug it into, say, a CD player, and record directly to the player. It's PC-free. It's a totally standard headphone jack.

To answer someone else's question, yes, there is voice recording, but I can't personally vouch for the quality.

And unfortunately, yes, it is just 2 gigs - nonexpandable. That was perfectly fine with me, but obviously it depends on what you want to use it for.

No, this time around it is the Plus version (radio and video added).

Btw, with shipping this version is $6.75 cheaper here than directly from Creative (also refurb (rox0rz!)).

A friendly reminder,

The refurb (rox0rz!). Zens do not always power up immediately. Most of the time, you have to charge it for a while first.

Does anyone know how to change the recording settings?
I use my ancient Creative Nomad to record concerts.
I plug a mic into it and record as wav files.
I have the Zen V from the last time they were on Woot, but it seems to only record at 128k WMA format.
This would be much easier to smuggle into a show, but I want to record in better quality.
Anyone know if this can be changed?

but not everyone needs every song known to man, if you know how to just pick like 20 albumbs or whatever and change em out when ya get sick of em, this could save you some money i would assume, just take a lil more time changing albums, but who doesnt have a extra 5 minutes? I have a 2GB Nano and it's perfect. I only keep songs I really want to listen to on it. If I had 80GB, I'd spend the whole time pressing the Next button. l o l

This probably won't come with an installation CD, and all of the files from the CD are not available at the Creative site.
You can download the Creative Software Installation CD from this site.

Once signed up go to the members section and look for the forum topic Creative Zen V Plus Installation CD (the ZenV and ZenV Plus CD is the same).
The CD is divided into 6 .rar files, you'll need WinRar (or similar) to decompress them (the trial version is fine ( http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm ), I think any unzip utility will handle .rar files also.
The files are on MegaUpload or Rapidshare, if you don't have an account at one of these sites you can only download so much per hour, so be patient, or spend the $10 and get an account.
For your convenience here are the links (so you won't have to sign up for the site above if you don't want to).
The files are the same so you can alternate between the 2 sites if you run out of bandwidth on one or the other.

I agree I used to have a 20gb mp3. It was just such a hassle shuffling through the bad music.

Yes, it's a good deal on a great little player. We have the 2Gb and 4 Gb V Plus players here and love them. I don't know that I will ever watch much video on them, though. The screens are very small, but the video does work well. The sound is great, too.

if you use XP you dont even need drivers. it recognizes this as a mass storage device and when you open windows media player just click the sync tab and you can create playlists or sync your library/certain songs. easy as pie! i love mine! i bought mine full retail a year ago though :-( $120 at BB :-( now i know, so i woot!! :-)

Yeah, I seem to recall this happening last time, when woot had the 1GB Zen, MidnightBox had the 2GB...

I bought the 4GIG last time and it is great! Bought the wife a 4 gig earlier for over $100. It has a cord to plug into another device and record. I recorded a special news conference here in Salt Lake City yesterday from a small FM radio and it worked perfectly. The sound quality from the voice recorder is quite good also. I don't know if I would buy a 2 gig unit but if you don't need to hold a bunch of books it will hold a lot of songs!! BTW, love the bookmarks!!

I got a 1gig V+ a while back from woot and I think it's great, bookmarks, fm tuner, great audio quality. The screen is to small for watch video, but the feature is there.

Also, it's seen as a removable hard drive on XP so you can just drag and drop your files on to it. You don't need the Creative software.
