Bunch Of Hot Air
Oh, it’s a Bon HOME dish rack. At first glance, I thought maybe it was a Bon IVER dish rack, and that would’ve explained a few things.
It was just last week that my girlfriend shows up at my apartment with red puffy eyes and tears streaming down her cheeks. Me, I’m thinking someone just kicked her dog into the path of a tractor trailer right in front of her but, before I can ask, she’s grabbing my hand, dragging me over to the couch and sobbing “OMG YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS BON IVER ALBUM” or something. So she hooks up her smartphone to the stereo and starts playing this… Music, I think it was? There were definitely musical instruments involved, and some guy was doing his best to sing, I guess. Anyway, she comes back to the couch, leans into my shoulder, and puts a death grip on my hand with hers, but still doing that stroking thing she does with her thumb that’s supposed to tell me she’s being sweet while crushing she’s my knuckles together. Then she just stares at the speakers and silently cries. And every time I try to say something, she shushes me and tells me to “just listen.”
The entire time I was listening, I thought, ‘Why the heck is she making me do this?’ Did I forget her birthday? Our anniversary? Did she catch me flirting with that cute barista at the coffee shop? Why would anyone punish themselves with jangly, loud whispery stuff?
And for a minute there, this Bon Home Heat & Dry Dish Rack answered all those questions! I would totally endure ten minutes of that stuff if it dried my dishes in ten minutes! Clearly, my girlfriend was upset that I hadn’t found a bacteria-free alternative to towel-drying and wanted to introduce me to a better, if slightly more annoying, way! It was a weak way of doing it, but at least there was an explanation as to why she wasted an hour of my life crushing my hand in hers.
Unfortunately, this dish rack has nothing to do with that sad man. It only uses hot air for drying large loads of dishes quietly and effortlessly, leaving me with no reason for the aural pain she put me through. The only one I can think of is that she wants to break up with me, and if it means never having to listen to crap again, I’m more than willing to let her go.
