There are some things you shouldn’t clean with steam. But you you know what? Screw those things.
I don’t know what to like best about my new Bissell Power Shot steam cleaner for hard surfaces. That it’s ready to use when I just add water? That it cleans hard-to-reach places with ease? That it looks like one of the little guys from MAD magazine’s SPY VS. SPY? Seriously, I’m going to make a little wide-brimmed hat for it.
Look, a person can go kind of crazy with cleaning. And not just in that way where you go on an over-the-counter-stimulant-fueled weekend wall-scrubbing binge once in a while, because we’ve all been there. No, I’m talking about the nasty, toxic chemicals people spray all up in their hizzies. Man, the fumes alone! Some of that stuff is seriously bad news. You’d actually rather have dirt.
But this Bissell Steam Shot doohickey, it doesn’t use chemicals at all. Unless… is water a chemical? Officially? Technically? OK, well it doesn’t use chemicals other than water, if water counts. But its steam-cleaning power still sanitizes surfaces, killing germs, mold, mildew and fungus, all without making a little Superfund site of your home.
Oh, but you should know: It’s not good for cleaning children or pets, home electronics, rare books, or a wad of cotton candy that you dropped at the fairgrounds but are thinking you still might eat after it’s properly sanitized.
Yeah, I had to learn that last one the sad way.
